Cristallina marble, the only Swiss marble, leads to success!

On September 20, 2021, Bucherer's building made of Cristallina marble was awarded as the best building in the city of Zurich.

For the 18th time, the awards ceremony for the best buildings in the city of Zurich took place. Among 117 buildings, a jury of experts chaired by City Councillor André Odermatt awarded twelve prizes and nine distinctions, and the first prize went to the Bucherer building made both externally and internally of Cristallina marble from Peccia.

Councillor André Odermatt emphasized that “The award-winning buildings show in an exemplary way that architecture and urban development can also go hand in hand with the goals of social, ecological and economic sustainability” (see Stadt Zurich, Gute Bauten).

The architects’ decision to use Cristallina marble for the construction of this important building was certainly a winning one.

Not only is it a natural and therefore ecological material, but it is also local. The extraction of the marble takes place in Peccia (Alta Valle Maggia), at an altitude of 1200 and 1400 m above sea level, while the processing takes place in the laboratory in Biasca with advanced machinery that allow to cut and customize the Cristallina marble in the desired shape and size.

It is therefore clear that if you are looking for a sustainable, unique, and versatile material, Cristallina marble is the perfect choice.
